Our Story — Parul’s Kitchen: Authentic Gujarati Food, Made in London
Every business has a reason it exists. For Sukhadi Kitchen, the reason is simple: Parul missed the food she grew up eating, believed other people missed it too, and decided to do something about it.
How It Started
Sukhadi Kitchen started as an extension of what Parul had always done: cooking Gujarati food the way it is made at home. Not in a restaurant, not in a factory, but in a kitchen — with good ingredients, time, and care. The food that comes from a Gujarati home kitchen is different in character from what you find elsewhere. It is rooted in tradition, varied by season and occasion, and carries the imprint of whoever made it.
When Parul began sharing her food with friends and family in London, the response was immediate. People who had not tasted proper Methi Thepla since visiting family in India, or who had been eating frozen paratha from a supermarket packet, wanted more. The business grew naturally from that demand — from word of mouth, from family gatherings, and from the simple fact that nobody else was making this food the way it deserved to be made.
What We Stand For
At Sukhadi Kitchen, we make food the way it has always been made in Gujarati homes. Four principles govern everything:
- Pure vegetarian — no meat, no fish, no eggs, in any product, ever
- No preservatives or artificial additives — what you taste is what we put in
- Made fresh to order — your food is made after you order it, not before
- Dispatched within 48 hours — freshness is guaranteed when it arrives
We now offer 49 products across 8 categories: Mithai, Savories, Chevda, Bites, Roti and Thepla, Gathiya and Sev, Chaat, and Mukhvas. But the philosophy behind every product is the same as it was from the beginning: make it the way it would be made at home, and make it properly.
Our Kitchen and Our Standards
Sukhadi Kitchen holds a Food Hygiene Rating of 5 — the highest possible — awarded and verified by the local authority. We take food safety seriously: a clean kitchen, proper ingredient storage, full allergen awareness, and careful packaging on every order.
Our Customers
We serve home customers across the UK: families recreating the taste of Gujarat at home, individuals who grew up eating this food and want to eat it again, people discovering Gujarati cuisine for the first time, and customers preparing for festivals and family gatherings. We also supply wholesale to businesses across London: hotels, caterers, restaurants, temples, and community organisations.
What the Name Means
We named the business after Sukhadi — the traditional Gujarati sweet made from wheat, ghee and jaggery. It is simple, honest, wholesome, and deeply satisfying. Those four words describe the sweet perfectly. They also describe what we are trying to do.
